How reliable is it to buy a third party or compatible laser Printer cartridge for my Hp Laser Printer?

I have a HP 1012 laser printer. I need another printer cartridge refill. The off brand laser printer cartridges I see online are about half price compared to the HP brand itself. A lot of the companies selling the off brand printer cartridges get good reviews online. Would you recommend buying a new offbrand laser printer cartridge from one of them?

I would never buy an OEM cartridge. I like my HP Laserjet 1018, but I’d never pay 60-70 bucks for it. I just go to amazon and find my cartridge there (I type in the HP number for it). Then, I look for “compatible” cartridges. I’ve been doing this for over a year and I’ve always been pleased with the results. I only pay 25 bucks for them, also. Buying through amazon you always have that as protection as their policy is the buyer is always right.

How much can I sell an HP 8550GN Colour Laser Printer?

It is 3-4 years old and in perfect working order with all the cables and software and manuals etc. My problem is that they have stopped selling these so I have no idea how much to charge for it.
Does anybody know of any companies currently selling it? or perhaps a suggested price?

That’s really hard to say. It’s really dependent on what kind of demand there is for that particular one and how much someone is willing to spend to buy it. Unfortunately, The Printer is fairly old, in Computer/printer terms & technology, and there are newer, faster, smaller, and more capable Printers that are cheaper than printers of earlier years, so getting anything for it might be a stretch. The HP DeskJet 1050 all-in-one will cost you £29.99. Is it possible to get a workable Printer/scanner combo for this kind of cash?

As you may expect, this machine possesses a really traditional style and design. It is rather simple, yet functions extremely effectively. HP has restricted controls to just three buttons for black and colour copies and to terminate a Print job. A fourth button turns the unit off and on. There’s three orange indicators, one meant for paper out and the other couple for low ink. At the rear is a low voltage socket to attach to the small, black block power supply along with a USB socket, the sole data connection.

Putting in both of them ink and head cartridges, one black and the other tri-colour, is a touch clumsy, because they are fixed quite a way within the unit. The cartridges slide in and click up in to place and closing the cover sets the device going. You have to print an alignment page, which you then scan on the machine’s flatbed to complete the alignment.
